Our mission is to advocate for the rights and safety of
individuals of all ages who primarily have mental retardation and, in some
instances, have other developmental disabilities or delays. ARC is a
source of support, specialized knowledge, and resources in assisting
individuals and their families to determine their needs and goals. ARC
also works to influence societal attitudes and resources so that people with
mental retardation and developmental disabilities will have access to the
services, assistance and opportunities they need for personal growth and
development, and participation in the community.

Entry Level
Positions
·
Residence Counselor - Full Time and Part Time,
entry-level direct care positions with a variety of schedules available.
Responsibilities include providing daily life enriching experiences to
individuals with developmental disabilities. Requirements include a HS Diploma/GED and a valid NYS Driver’s
License. This position also
requires the capacity to support people’s physical management needs,
necessitating the ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.

Direct Services Assistant – Full Time direct care
positions in our Day Hab program in Brunswick. Responsibilities include teaching and/or reinforcing skills
in the areas of independent living, personal care, vocational, dining,
socialization, and community membership. Requirements include a HS Diploma/GED and a valid NYS Driver’s
License. This position also
requires the capacity to support people’s physical management needs,
necessitating the ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.
Family Resource Person - Provides companionship and
assistance to persons with mental retardation in the home and/or community as
reflected by the person’s needs, choices and desires. The person can
range in age from infant to adult. High
School Diploma, GED or current High School student anticipating
graduation.
Education/Experience Required

Van Driver - Transports individuals with disabilities in the
Rensselaer County area from their place of residence to the work place or
community in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. Requirements include a High School diploma/GED, a Class C, P, CDL
license (ARC will help obtain this license for those who do not possess one),
and have the ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds. Previous
professional driving experience is strongly preferred.

Assistant Residence Manager - Assists the Residence Manager in
the daily operation and supervision of direct care staff in a residential
setting while carrying out duties related to supporting individuals with
developmental disabilities. Requirements
include an Associate's Degree or H.S. Diploma/GED with two years’ recent
experience and valid driver's license. This position also requires the
capacity to support people’s physical management needs, necessitating the
ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.

Direct Services Manager - Provides implementation and
oversight of day to day services to individuals with developmental disabilities
while supervising a team of 3-4 staff. Requirements
include a Bachelor’s degree and one year related supervisory experience
or an Associate’s Degree and 3 years’ related supervisory
experience and a Valid NYS Driver’s License. This position also
requires the capacity to support people’s physical management needs,
necessitating the ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.

Employment Services Counselor - Provides an array of employment
services to people in work center and community environments such as supporting
personal care, behavioral and aging needs, administering medications,
supporting people in community volunteer jobs roles, and developing and
implementing goal plans and other required documentation. Requirements include a Bachelor’s
Degree in Human Services or related field and one year of relevant
experience. A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
and a reliable vehicle. This
position also requires the capacity to support people’s physical
management needs, necessitating the ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.

Medicaid Service Coordinator - Promotes choice, individualized
services and supports, and consumer satisfaction; develops and monitors the
service plan (ISP) involving the active partnership of all those who support
the person; fosters community connections for the individual/family as
reflected in their wishes and needs; and manages recording/reporting
requirements. Requirements include
an Associate’s degree in a Health or Human Services field, or an RN
and one year experience working with people with developmental
disabilities; or one year experience as a Service Coordinator with any
population.

Residential Operations Manager - Implements regional tactical
plans; assists in the selection, development and retention of a quality
workforce in assigned region, including such functions as orientation,
coaching, and training; assures workplace safety, professionalism and
compliance; facilitates the ongoing development of teams. Requirements include Bachelor’s degree with two years’
Residential Management experience or Associate’s degree with five
years’ Residential Management experience. Computer skills preferred.

Program Coordinator (Day-Hab) - Oversees team-based and collaborative
development initiatives and systems, proactive quality assurance systems and
supervision of program staff at Brunswick Center Day Hab Program. Requirements include a Master’s degree in
related field and 1-3 years’ related supervisory experience or a
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 3-5 years’ experience.

Senior Program Coordinator of Residential Services - Plans, organizes, directs and
evaluates all functions and activities needed to ensure quality residential
service and supports delivery for the overall administration and supervision of
the designated ARC housing region. Requirements
include a Master’s degree in related field and 1-3 years’ related
supervisory experience or a Bachelor’s degree in related field and 3-5
years’ experience.

Coordinator
of Transportation Services - Oversees basic aspects of agency transportation
services such as fleet management, vehicle route development, transportation
staffing, budget, and other areas of department operations. Requirements include an Associate’s Degree
and two years’ experience in transit operations or a HS Diploma, and five
years’ relevant experience; Class C, P, CDL License are also required;
must be certified as a 19A qualified examiner.
